How many times a day have we said to ourselves or to other people “I just don’t have enough time to get everything done”. Yes, we have all said it but is it really true or is it just something that we say to make ourselves feel better about not completing the tasks that we need to get done daily. In the modern world that we live in now we are constantly bombarded with distractions. With the invention of the cell phone we have found that we can keep updated with everything in the world around us when we used to spend that time socializing with our friends and family but now spend most of our time on social media liking or responding to someone’s post that is one of our so-called friends from around the world.
We have searched around and found some stats and have taken an average of all the ones that we found. It is really amazing at how much time the average person in North America spends being “BUSY”. According to stats that were found for the year 2018 the average North American checks their phone 52 times per day and spends more than 3 hours per day, mainly checking social media feeds. This number is double what it was just 10 years ago. According to 2018 statistics that we found the average North American Spends 238 minutes (nearly 4 hours) per day watching T.V. That makes up a total of nearly 7 hours, almost a third of our day (or about 41% of our waking hours if you slept 7 hours per night) that is just basically wasted. What if we were able to cut that time down to possibly 2 hours per day on our phone and 1 hour per day of T.V. time. That would give us an extra 28 hours per week that we could allocate to doing more productive things that we “Just don’t have time for”. Changing these habits is extremely hard at first, because unfortunately they have become very addicting to each and every one of us. Maybe try only checking your phone hourly and then only for maybe 5 to 10 minutes. Record your favourite shows and watch them when you have extra time when you have completed everything you have needed to get done. (Don’t just watch T.V. for the sake of watching T.V.). For those who have read our last post about goal setting, you can use this extra time to schedule and start completing the tasks that you need to get done daily in order to reach your goals. I guess the point we are trying to get across in this post is that too many of us spend our time just being busy instead of using are time properly and being productive. This week the book that we really think that you should take the time to read if you are trying to gain success in your personal or business life is an older one from the great motivational speaker Robin Sharma. It is written as a piece of fiction but the message it sends across will give you plenty of motivation to continue on your path to success.
